About the Vineyard and the wine
Bodegas Matsu, a biodynamic viticulture initiative in the Toro region of Spain, produces the Tinto de Toro wine Matsu El Pícaro. To recognize the generations of grape farmers who have been devoted to the land, the word "Matsu" means "wait" in Japanese. El Pícaro, which translates to "the rogue" or "rascal," is the younger version of the Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) grapes from 50- to 70-year-old vines in the area. Because of the impact of biodynamic farming methods on the ancient vines, the wine is renowned for its fruity character, mineral undertones, and soft tannins.
