About the winery and the wine

Founded in Beaune in 1880, Maison Joseph Drouhin gradually expanded from the cellars of the Dukes of Burgundy and the Kings of France (12th to 18th centuries), to the Moulin de Vaudon (18th century) in Chablis. Today the fourth generation holds the reins. Everyone has their role and implements the "Charter of Excellence" of the Drouhin family. Domaine Joseph Drouhin has been built up over the decades, and today covers 80 hectares in Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise and Chablis. It is one of the most important in Burgundy, for more than two thirds in Premiers Crus and Grands Crus.

The harvest is done manually in small perforated crates in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The maceration and vinification lasts 2 to 3 weeks in total with controlled maceration and fermentation temperature. Then, the wine is aged in oak for 12 to 15 months, with 10% in new oak barrels.

Tasting notes

A delicious red Burgundy, with harmonious flavours. Bright ruby colour. On the nose, intense aromas of wild cherry, liquorice and mild spices, evolving towards notes of undergrowth and mushroom. On the palate, excellent balance between tannin, acidity and "gras" (velvety texture). The aftertaste is reminiscent of little red berries
