About the Vineyard and the wine

The second wine of Château Lagrange was one of the first in this category and is now valued for its inherent merits. It was created in 1983 with the intention of improving the Grand Vin's quality by a more drastic selection. It is made from grapes that are, on average, already 30 years old, with half of them being Cabernet Sauvignon. It is matured for 13 months in barrels that are 20% new, and it has supple tannins and significant ageing potential. It starts out with a very clean elegance and will get deeper and more intense with time.

Tasting notes

Produced from vines on average 30 years old, and with the clear intention of offering so much more than a ‘second wine’, Les Fiefs de Lagrange is always one of the best value Saint Julien wines. The 2020 is no exception. A true reflection of the appellation’s elegant and harmonious style, this vintage will be enjoyable almost immediately. As in the Château Lagrange Grand Vin, black and red fruit aromas predominate. The tangy fresh entry is followed by an ample midpalate and a nice long finish. All the ingredients are there to allow an excellent ageing in the cellar for the more patient wine lovers too.

What to pair with Les Fiefs de Lagrange?

This wine can go very well with grilled or roasted lamb You can also enjoy it with a cold cuts platter for the aperitifs (cold cuts). With cheeses we would recommend to go for hard or semi hard cheese with a bit of nutty flavors such as a Comté.
