About the winery and the wine
The Bichot family can been traced back to at least 1214. In 1350, they made Châteauneuf-en-Auxois their fief in Burgundy. Since then, neither the family's coat of arms nor its doe (biche) emblem have altered.
Bernard Bichot established a wine trading company in Monthélie in 1831 under his own name. After he died, his son Hippolyte purchased the first vines in Volnay, having already come to the conclusion that upstream control was crucial. The first person to bear the name, his son Albert Bichot, gave the family firm a boost in the late 19th century and established a permanent home in the heart of Beaune in 1912.Born in 1900, the second Albert Bichot was a trailblazer in the field of international trade. He traveled constantly to introduce wine lovers all over the world to his wines, which were already regarded as some of the greatest in North America, Asia, and Oceania.
His four sons, Albert, Bernard, Bénigne, and Jean-Marc, acquired this expertise in the latter half of the 20th century. With the development of a new winery, bottling center, and enormous ageing cellar, a new period of expansion began. Every continent in the world carried the wines.
Fermenting maceration in thermoregulated stainless steel vats for 18 to 20 days. Aging: 80% in stainless steel vats and 20% in oak barrels for 10 to 12 months.
