About the winery and the wine
Founded by Pierre Etienne Mellot in 1513, a regional pioneer who believed in the huge potential of the Loire’s Central Vineyards, Joseph Mellot remains at the forefront of winemaking in the Loire Valley.
The vineyard of Sancerre dates back to the most remote Antiquity, according to testimonies of historical personalities, such as Pliny the Elder. It was not until the 12th century that Sancerre experienced considerable growth, thanks to the monks of Saint-Satur and the Counts of Sancerre.
 
Tasting notes
A pale gold color with green highlights. A powerful nose where citrus fruits and a beautiful minerality combine pleasantly.A balance carried by a nice freshness composed of citrus fruits ranging from lemon to grapefruit. Nice tension that prolongs the finish.
 
What to pair with Joseph Mellot, Sancerre La Chatellenie?
Great wine to enjoy with oysters, seafood platter and grilled fish with light sauce.  It is also great with goat cheese.
