About Languedoc
Languedoc surpasses Provence as the country's top producer of IGP and AOC rosé wines and is the leading producer of organic wines in France. Additionally, the area has opened up to foreigners, drawing manufacturers from all over the world in addition to other parts of France. Thanks to its rich history, culture, and spirit of revolt, Languedoc is currently soaring in popularity.
The Languedoc region in Southern France is a component of the Occitanie region, a vast Mediterranean coastal territory that stretches from the region of Provence in the east to the Spanish border in the southeast. About 90% of the land is made up of the Languedoc, with the remaining 10% being occupied by Roussillon. Together, they make up France's greatest vineyard and wine-growing region, producing almost one-third of the country's wines. The world's largest geographically identifiable vineyard area is the broader Languedoc-Roussillon region. The local economy is heavily reliant on viticulture, and many of the wineries are small, multigenerational family businesses.
Tasting notes
The color is violet-tinged deep ruby red. On the nose there is black pepper, garrigue herbs, and a trace of smoky wood complement the scents of juicy red berries, black cherries, and plums. On the palate it is smooth and full-bodied, it has layers of licorice, spice, and a touch of chocolate along with flavors of dark fruits like cassis and blackberry. A refined mouthfeel is produced by the well-balanced acidity and well-structured tannins.
What to pair with Domaine Grand Fidèle, Origine rouge?
Domaine Grand Fidèle, Origine rouge will go very well with grilled beef and lamb, and also meat in sauce dishes. You can also enjoy it with terrines (cold cuts). With cheeses we would recommend to go for a soft blue cheese with not too strong flavors such as Bleu D'Auvergne.
