About the winery and the wine

At Col d’Orcia, for many years now, they have always ascribed high value to the natural environment in which they operate.

For this reason in the year 2010 they took the decision of submitting to the organic farming certification process in order to become the largest organic wine producing farm in the whole of Tuscany. Since August 27, 2010 the whole estate including vineyards, olive groves, other fields and even the gardens are farmed following exclusively organic agricultural practices.

The name Gineprone refers to the aromatic herb Juniper and indicates how this Chianti from the Siena hills reminds the drinker of all the herbs and spices that are typical of the Mediterranean underwood. Complex and full bodied yet approachable and fruity, Gineprone is the Montalcino version of the Chianti wine that has made Tuscany famous around the world.

Tasting notes

The Robe is of an intense ruby red. The bouquet is ample and complex, with pleasant balsamic notes, licorice, candied fruit complemented with the scents of the oak. On the palate it has a good structure, evident tannins that highlight the acidity well balanced with the body of the wine. Persistent and pleasantly spicy aftertaste.

What to pair with Col D’Orcia, Gineprone Chianti DOCG?

This wine will do wonders when associated with grilled red meats, roasted poultry or game birds.  It will also go perfectly with cured ham, cold cuts and matured cheeses.
