From Boutinot winery, Cape Heights, Shiraz is a Beautiful gem from South Africa and it was brought to Metro Manila, Philippines for you.
Grape Variety: Shiraz
Region: Western Cape, South Africa
About the winery and the wine
The sandstone and alluvial soils of the vineyards used to produce this Shiraz scramble along the foothills of the Swartland mountains.
Due to the heat and dryness of this area, these unirrigated vines have to put in a lot of effort to generate little berries and low yields. A percentage of the grapes are whole bunch fermented, adding to the overall tannin quality of the wine, and the wine is made from exclusively free run juice and fermented on skins in stainless steel tanks. After the final blend is created, about 15% of the previous vintage is added and the wine is matured for a long time in French oak barrels on fine lees. This guarantees a wine that is more complex and has a heavier texture and taste.
Tasting notes
Fresh, crisp, black and crimson fruit with a long finish and a sharp, mineral-forward palate.

What to pair with Cape Heights shiraz?
This wine matches very well with bobotie (traditional South African dish), game and curries, spare ribs and pepper steak. It will also complement very well bloomy rind cheeses such as camembert.
