Round and with great fruitiness, Navaherreros Blanco is a beautiful wine from Vinos de Madrid in Spain, and it was brought to Metro Manila, Philippines for you.
Grape Varieties: albillo and macabeo
Region: Vinos de Madrid, Spain
About the Vineyard
The vineyards have 35 hectares of old vines, mostly albillo and garnacha, with some red morenillo and moscatel de grano menudo. Since accessible plants were used as replacements, the vineyard contains a few more types.
The soils are tawny sands made of broken-down granite rock that have little nutrients and a high acidity. The annual rainfall is approximately 628 mm. The vineyards are situated on slopes, hillsides, and foothills and range in size from 500 square meters to 3 hectares. The upper plots, which are more than 830 meters above sea level, have shallow soils.
The two most common white grape varietals in the region, albillo and macabeo, are used to make Navaherreros Blanco. The vines are harvested by hand and range in age from thirty to eighty-five.
The characteristics of each vineyard determine the maceration times. The wine matures in 500 and 600-liter French oak barrels used for vinification. Neither stabilization nor filtration are applied to the wine.
Tasting notes
Excellent acidity, a balanced, slightly bitter but full body, and a long, complex finish highlight its high-altitude, granite terroir in the Madrid region. It has a complex aromatic profile that blends white flowers, pear, citrus, and saline hints with a palate of stone fruit, herbs, and minerality.
What to pair with Navaherreros Blanco?
Navaherreros Blanco is great to enjoy with dishes with fishes in sauce, but also a great companion for a seafood platter. Try it with our canned seafood from Spain!
