About the winery and the wine
Located in the Famatina Valley, some 754 kilometers northwest of Buenos Aires by car, Valle de la Puerta was founded in 1994.
The property is situated between the mountain ranges of Velasco and Famatina, which are offshoots of the magnificent Andes. This distinctive valley provides well-drained soils and a stunning scenic background.Built in 2002, the winery has all the amenities required for contemporary winemaking, including stainless tanks and equipment, a pneumatic bag press, sufficient chilling and cooling, a controlled fermentation temperature, premium wood treatments, clean yeast culture, and the use of inert gas.
"Water of the Condor" is how Ichanka is translated ("I" = water). The native Diaguitas relied heavily on the spring water from the little village of Ichanka, which was situated on the Estate. The condors that would be spotted hovering over the spring helped uncover this hidden water supply.
The condor was regarded by the Diaguitas as a spirit messenger and as the animal most closely associated with divinity.
Tasting notes
Bright green-hay colour showing subtle floral aromas of jasmine and honeysuckle balanced with live citrus. Dry and crisp on the palate with notes coming from it's muscat heritage enhancing its natural fruity flavours that linger on.
What to pair with Ichanka Torrontés?
This wine matches very well with seafood, fishes but also slightly flavorful asian dishes.
